The Frederick High School Band took a trip to Denver, Colo., on May 10-12. The students that chose to go raised money all year to go.
Band instructor Liz Labesky set up a lot of fun things for the students to see and explore. They had a day at Elitch Gardens, a huge amusement park. The students went on many exhilarating rides! Ms. Labesky, Mariah Mikkonen and Cole Hinz dared to take on a 150-foot free fall. Another part of the trip was dinner at Casa Bonita, a Mexican restaurant. There

they were treated to a magic show, a diving performance, and an arcade full of games. On the last day of the trip they went on a tour of the Garden of the Gods, then boarded a train to the top of Pikes Peak, at an elevation of 14,114 feet. Last, the kids got a quick look around the Olympic Training Center. Then, they hopped on the bus for the night-long ride home. Luckily the students were dismissed from school the next day!
