Owner: Heidi Krueger-Bower
Heidi Kreuger-Bower, and her husband, Ray Bower, recently purchased a 140-year-old building on Frederick’s Main Street and put a lot of labor and love into making it Heidi’s space. They had their grand opening in the building, formerly the Jensen Manufacturing building and more recently ImagineIt Inc., on Sept. 2.
Heidi has always enjoyed photography and has been doing it for fun for 10 years. For the last five years, she has shared her work at vendor shows.
Heidi says she likes taking photos of landscapes, wildlife, and old buildings, but her favorite thing is taking pictures of old cars, trucks, and equipment. She has her photos matted and framed, on canvases, on tins and loose waiting to be framed. Greeting cards are also a popular item for her.
Heidi said she prefers color photography to black and white. “Color tells a story better than black & white,” she said.
She likes to drive around and will stop and take pictures when something catches her eye and visit with people to get the history of the objects that interest her.
Heidi and Ray live in Frederick, and about half of her pictures are taken locally.
She and Ray also repurpose & refurbish some furniture pieces and odds and ends. The desk in the business is one of those pieces that Ray built from doors that came from a 100-year-old home near Aberdeen. The floors are original, and the old bank safe is still in there being used as a storage space.
Heidi is in the gallery on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and she will eventually be open some Saturdays.
Feel free to call her if you would like her to open the gallery.
